Welcome to the CDH!

The Council on Dispensational Hermeneutics was started in 2008 to provide a forum for discussion among traditional-dispensational thinkers in the important areas of hermeneutics and theological method. Issues related to biblical interpretation have been broadly discussed in several forums, however, there was no official forum, for traditional-dispensational thinkers to discuss issues among themselves. The Council was inaugurated to meet that particular need.  CDH convenes a two-day meeting annually in September rotating between various locations throughout North America.  In addition to welcoming scholars, leaders, students, and community members, local pastors are warmly invited to attend the meetings so that the discussions among the academic community can be grounded in every day ministry concerns.

New Prolegomena by Dr. Mike Stallard, Bibliology by Dr. Paul Miles, from Tyndale Seminary Press

This Systematic Theology was developed by Tyndale Theological Seminary & Biblical Institute of Hurst, Texas, and published by Tyndale Seminary Press. It was built upon the foundation of the dispensational theological scholarship of men like Lewis Sperry Chafer, John Walvoord, and Charles Ryrie. Its purpose is to fill the gap between Dr. Chafer’s extensive Systematic Theology and Dr. Ryrie’s one-volume Basic Theology.

Volume I covers Prolegomena and Bibliology. Prolegomena provides the reader with the sound theological method used throughout these volumes. Bibliology provides the reader with information on how the Bible is organized, its divine inspiration and authority, and God’s preservation of the Bible.

How easy is it to draw a line?

Jerry Falwell, a traditional dispensationalist, was famous for his involvement in agitating for righteousness in the political and social arena. Originally he rejected such involvement but changed his mind when Roe v Wade was handed down allowing millions of unborn...

Politics and the Distinction between Israel and the Church

The distinction between Israel and the Church is at the heart of what it means to be a dispensationalist. Does this belief, which stems from literal interpretation of the Bible, make a difference in one’s view of politics?  For instance, some schemes of theology...

Empire Criticism and the Book of Revelation

One area that is of interest to me (since I am in the process of working on a commentary on the book of Revelation) is the area of study that in recent years has grown and come to be called “Empire Criticism” or some such specialized term. But long before these...
